Midlands Movies was set up in 2013 by me - creator and Editor Michael Sales. After writing several scripts, I realised there was a need to help local filmmakers, writers, cast and crew. So, I explored creating a space where local cinephiles could discuss and promote their projects for the benefit of the region. The site has now showcased a wide variety of talent from the Midlands film industry - ranging from first-time students to full feature productions.
With talent from every walk of life, Midlands Movies is a place for everyone with a story and skill to share. Having dabbled in music video making with my previous bands Black Page Turns and The Authentics, I have been a fan of all types of films since graduating in Media at DeMontfort University.
Our contributors
Currently based in Leicester, support has come from a range of excellent regional writers who have written passionately about cinema. And we're always on the look up for more writers and contributors to cover a wealth of local shorts, features, events, screenings and festivals. Our awards
For 8 years we have run our annual Midlands Movies Awards which celebrate the best filmmaking talent in the area. An experienced panel of industry experts help choose the winners across 16 categories helping to showcase the amazing filmmakers hailing from the region. Our events
From 2015 - 2018, Midlands Movies put on our own themed film screenings in conjunction with Firebug Film Club. A big thanks goes to all the audiences who enjoyed and participated in a wide range of specially showcased movie events. We would be very happy to pass on our expertise and participate in any movie events or festivals you are running in the region.
