Mansfield set for action with film screenings and stunt event this October

Mansfield Town Film Festival are collaborating with the BFI to screen classic action films at the town’s Palace Theatre this October giving audiences an opportunity to experience these cinematic masterpieces on the big screen.

The Art of Action Season will celebrate the artistry and skill behind action filmmaking, focusing on the genre’s delivery of both entertainment and visual storytelling.

The programme kicks off on October 4th with The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), a swashbuckling classic known for its thrilling action sequences and iconic performances.  This is followed by The Train (1964) on October 18th, a tense World War II thriller featuring a storyline about the French Resistance’s efforts to stop a Nazi train.

The season concludes October 25th with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), the visually stunning martial arts epic that captivated audiences worldwide with its breathtaking choreography.

Filmmakers would kill for a scene as recognisable as the exploding head scene early into Scanners. A moment so sudden and exciting that it was shown out-of-context in place of a trailer in some regions, and has been a horror touchstone, even for those who haven’t seen the film.
