Nurse Meow and the Hunt for Sexy Bigfoot

Directed by John W.T.

2022

With a grindhouse title like that how could you not be intrigued to find out more? And so we cast an eye over a new sleazy short from the region that sees a group of men searching a forest for a mythical creature, with surprising results.

Made as a segment for Calling Nurse Meow, it’s part of an award-winning anthology film which consists of eleven films about the adventures of catgirl Nurse Meow.

Now being released as a standalone short, the film sees three inept hunters searching the woods for the legendary “Sexy Bigfoot”. And with a suitably bloody b-move poster, the film does what is says on the tin with its story of mayhem mashed with exploitation genre beats.

Apparently shot on the hottest weekend of the year, the rare Midlands sun helps make the outskirts of Matlock look (a bit more) like a trashy cult hit film location somewhere in Europe.

And so we open with a group of sweaty gun-toting men tracking the legendary Sexy Bigfoot in an attempt to capture the mysterious beast. As per these things, the three-person group splits up (d’oh) before a horny discussion ensues about the possibility of a tribe of these lustful fiends .

Yet one lone guy soon stumbles across a scantily clad woman having a picnic in the woods. But his arrogance quickly leads to the woman taking a big bite of his body that will have you wincing and crossing your legs quickly. I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination. Although the film doesn’t.

[SPOILER WARNING]

The two surviving men tie up the hissing cat woman before a surprise sees her escape with the help of another woman of her breed. This results in a blood-spattered revenge attack, but it's the second man who faces a worse (or perhaps better) fate as he succumbs to, and there’s no easy way of saying this, death by dildo.

Ending with the two ladies purring approval at their kill, a toy-filled afternoon of randy love fun is suggested as they head off into the bushy undergrowth.

Embracing its low-budget roots, Nurse Meow knows its genre and audience and caters exactly for them. With tongue firmly in cheek, the over-the-top acting and nod-and-wink dialogue are delivered well alongside a dash of gore and a whole lot more.

And based on the above I hope audiences will know what they’re getting into, as its 18-rated sexual tone and intentionally tacky effects will surely satisfy b-movie fans of both guts and butts.
