Midlands Spotlight – Out of Time

A new short drama is about to be released from Midlands writer and director Rebecca Harris-Smith called Out of Time.

A joint production between Flirty Bird Productions, Pat the Bull Films and Sutopia Films, Out of Time tells the story of Dr. Elizabeth Langdon who, as she is about to leave her work, is struck from behind in a violent attack.

The shocked Langdon awakes much later in a room with several dead bodies. However, there is a lone ‘survivor’ trapped in with her, yet this man cannot remember who he is or why he’s there.

And more importantly, neither know who killed these people. Will Elizabeth get to the truth or will she run out of time?

Well, that’s the question posed by this new film which has a cast and crew from across the Midlands.

Kaushy Patel is on board as an executive producer and the film’s music is by Hannah Woolmer, whilst supporting Rebecca in the director’s chair is her director of photography Ash Connaughton.

Susannah May plays Dr. Elizabeth Langdon alongside Jimm Rennie as Rob, Michelle Cox as Tate, David Claridge as Scott, Chris Davis as Terry and Tiddles Raven as Clive.

Previous productions from Rebecca include her co-director credit on Checking In (2014) which was nominated for Best British Film at the London Film Awards. She was also one of the directors in horror anthology House of Screaming Death (2017) which was nominated for Best Feature Film at Midlands Movie Awards 2018.

They say a cup of tea can solve everything. In Charles Strider’s debut short, A Glass House, it might not solve everything, but it can at least be the starting point for a conversation. This is a beautiful piece of work, shot on film in a 4:3 ratio, at a gorgeous location in King’s Norton, with a tight, naturalistic script that delves into difficulties around talking about our mental health.
