Ozzys' film debut gets rare screening for Halloween
Cult '80s teen metal horror comedy Trick Or Treat is back on Saturday 29th October in the Midlands.
Ozzy Osbourne's movie debut is about to get a rare screening for Halloween, thanks to Birmingham Comedy Festival.
The legendary Black Sabbath vocalist launched his acting career with the cult 1986 teen horror/comedy, Trick Or Treat (18), which is being shown at Stourbridge's Town Hall on Saturday 29 October 2022.
Perfectly exploiting the '80s fear of metal acts burying subliminal Satanic messages in their music, Trick Or Treat finds bullied teen Eddie (Marc Price) devastated to hear of the sudden death of his idol, infamous heavy metal star Sammi Curr (Tony Fields).
But when he's given a copy of Sammi's final unreleased recordings by radio DJ Nuke (played by Kiss frontman Gene Simmons), Eddie soon discovers that Sammi is preparing for the ultimate Halloween comeback ... from beyond the grave.
Featuring Ozzy as a deranged TV evangelist decrying the evils of heavy metal, Trick Or Treat also boasts a suitably rockin’ soundtrack from Brit metal outfit Fastway (aka Motörhead guitarist 'Fast' Eddie Clarke and future Flogging Molly vocalist, Dave King).
Written by Rhet Topham (Freddy’s Nightmares) and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’s Michael S. Murphey and Joel Soisson, Trick Or Treat is a head bangin’ Halloween treat every bit as enjoyable as other teen comedies of the period.
With the venue's bar open from 6.45pm, the 7.30pm one-off screening is preceded by a set of '80s rock classics - to ensure the audience is in the right mood.
Trick Or Treat is part of Birmingham Comedy Festival's Halloween Film Bash at the venue, which also includes Laurel And Hardy Are Spooked! at 2.30pm. The family-friendly afternoon show features three classic black and white comedies in which Stan and Ollie find themselves in ghostly circumstances: Habeas Corpus, The Laurel And Hardy Murder Mystery and The Live Ghost.
